Hello and welcome to my website. I am a warm, grounded, and accepting therapist and all are welcome here. I work with general issues within the psychological field, most often treating anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, eating disorders, depression, trauma and chronic post-traumatic stress. I work with teens, adults, and families.
I work psychodynamically and relationally, which basically means that as trust builds within the therapeutic relationship, the opportunity to understand oneself at a deeper level expands. Through the therapeutic relationship, with awareness, questioning, and taking chances, your ability to begin trusting yourself grows. This results in a growing knowledge of what you want and need, a seeing of how you process life, and an understanding of your path forward. If you have questions or would like to schedule an initial phone consultation with me, please contact me through my website.
Treatment of Trauma
I use parts work and somatic inquiry when working with adult survivors of childhood trauma. Every part of us, even parts causing all kinds of trouble and heartache, deserve care and deep respect. My work is grounded in Janina Fisher’s parts work, informed by IFS, and Pat Ogden's Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I am also an EMDR-trained therapist.
Fees and Insurance
I am a private-pay therapist with the exception of one insurance company. I am in-network with Aetna Insurance. For other insurance plans, I am considered an out of network provider. You can check with your insurance company to see if you have out of network benefits. If so, I will provide you with a monthly statement which may assist you in receiving partial reimbursement from your insurance company.
I am allied with the Racial Justice community. I recognize the deep roots and impact that discrimination and white supremacy has on our country and strive to counteract this effect in my practice. I embrace the stance of cultural humility and recognize my efforts towards anti-racism, anti-oppression, multiculturalism, and inclusivity must be an ongoing effort of mine, especially in the treatment of trauma.
I am also allied with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. I’m mindful of the history of physical, sexual and psychological oppression of individuals in these communities over time and place. I take a stance of cultural humility, avow that cultural competence is an ongoing process, and commit to continued education on all issues related to being a member of these communities.
